Podere San Faustino (Fidenza)
Country trattoria with Emilian cuisine and a veranda in the green, recommended by the MICHELIN Guide.
An old farmhouse on the Via Emilia just outside Fidenza, restored and run by chef Simone Strinati and his wife Daniela, who is also a sommelier. The Podere San Faustino holds a Bib Gourmand distinction in the Michelin Guide, which recognises quality cooking at a good price-to-value ratio.
The kitchen draws on the traditions of three nearby territories — Parmigiana, Mantovana and Piacentina — with seasonal menus that change frequently. Expect excellent cured meats from the bassa parmense (coppa, culatello, prosciutto), hand-rolled fresh pasta (tortelli di zucca with house-made pear mostarda, tortelli alle erbette, tagliolini), and carefully prepared meat dishes such as slow-cooked goose leg. The desserts are a particular strength. Some fish dishes are also available.
The dining room has a warm farmhouse character with few well-spaced tables; a luminous veranda opens onto the garden in warmer months. Daniela, who holds a WSET Level 3 Saké Sommelier certification, curates the wine list and can suggest unexpected pairings including saké. Wheelchair accessible, free parking.
Indicative price: €40–50 per person. Tuesday to Saturday dinner only; Sunday lunch only. Closed Mondays. Reservation recommended.
