MuMAB – Museum of the Ancient Sea and Biodiversity
Visitor centre of the Stirone park at San Nicomede: museum, fossils, biodiversity and guided walks. Excellent for families and for understanding the park landscape.
At San Nicomede, on the other side of the Stirone park from the Podere, the MuMAB — Museum of the Ancient Sea and Biodiversity is the best place to understand what makes the landscape around us so special. The name says it all: on one side, the fossils and geological story of a time when these hills were seabed; on the other, the wildlife and habitats you'll see today along the trails.
It's an excellent stop for families with children — the museum is well designed, accessible and genuinely engaging for younger visitors. It also works well on a day when the weather isn't cooperating, or as a way to make sense of the Stirone landscape before or after walking its trails.
Beyond the museum displays, the centre regularly organises activities, workshops, guided walks and excursions — it's not just a museum but a gateway to the natural environment of the area.
