Boschi di Carrega Regional Park
Large regional park of woods, trails, clearings and historic estates in the hills near Parma. Excellent for a half-day or full day in nature, about 30 minutes from the Podere.
The Boschi di Carrega Regional Park, in the hills between Sala Baganza and Collecchio towards Parma, is one of the finest green areas you can reach from the Podere. It's farther than the Stirone — about half an hour by car — but if you have the time, it rewards the drive handsomely.
The park combines dense woodland, sun-dappled clearings, ponds, gentle trails and areas of historic landscape interest. It feels more forested than the Stirone, less wild than Monte Moria, and beautifully maintained throughout. The paths are varied enough to suit both a gentle stroll and a more active half-day walk.
It's an excellent choice for couples, families and anyone who enjoys walking at an unhurried pace in a well-kept, readable landscape. In autumn the foliage colours are spectacular; in spring the meadows are full of wildflowers.
Plan to dedicate at least half a full day. The official website provides trail maps, access points and useful seasonal updates.
Farther away than the other entries in this category; best when you have at least half a full day available.
